BUSY BUSY!!

It has been awhile since we've posted because we have been sooooooo busy!!!

#1- All of our stuff finally arrived, we were living in a maze of boxes for awhile--we're making some progress though!

#2-We have been on the search for mountain bikes, cross country skis, and a snowblower. (getting prepared for winter!) Thanks to craigslist and AWESOME moving sales--we now have all three, for great prices!
#3-We picked up our cross country skis in Soldotna.
(his/her pair- men size 13 and women size 8=PERFECT!)
We decided to make a weekend trip out of it and try salmon fishing. The reds are coming in! We had a lot of fun watching, learning, and practicing. Adam actually had 4 on the line, but wasn't able to get them in. They're tricky--once they leave salt water and hit fresh water, they don't eat. So really--the technique is to know the feel of the weight hitting the rocky bottom and the different feel when it hits a fish---hopefully they inhale the fly/hook or you get lucky and snag them. Also--did you know salmon look like "normal" fish until they hit fresh water. It's kind of like they mutate! But when adapting to fresh water-they change color and grow their "beaks" Pretty cool! The residents are lucky and can "dip-net" for salmon--which guarantees a cooler full of fresh fish! There are pictures of people camped out on the beach--supposedly this weekend is going to be more crowded and the real, COMBAT fishing! We saw 2 caribou and 1 GOLDEN eagle on this trip.

#4-My mom made it to Alaska!! While in the airport she cleverly distracted me and MY DAD snuck up and just about made me faint!! Mom is here for 2 weeks and Dad is here for 1. I WAS SO SURPRISED and excited! We really wanted him to be here for salmon fishing-since it's his favorite fish to eat! So we planned another camping/fishing trip to Soldotna this weekend! We had bear-mace last weekend, but were told a gun is a must-just in case. So we are going to be well armed this time! The first thing mom, dad, and I did was.......get a treat at Baskin Robins! YUM YUM!!!! They have already been a great help with clearing out the last of the boxes!! We have a busy couple weeks planned!!

****Our cats are crazy! They seem to LOVE it here, especially when we hang out in the backyard. They have both been more playful and cuddly. Snickers let us see his "playful" side (he gets a bit rough-just like Adam!) He completely pounced/jumped on top of Angel TWICE before I could get the camera out. She tried to save herself on the couch---I don't think she knew he was playing! hahaa--check out the video. Adam said he used to play like this with their other cat.
-The video will not upload....coming soon!
