A Little About Ashton

Ashton is almost 15 months old and quite the kiddo.  He amazes us everyday and we can't get enough of him!  Here are a few pictures from our trip to Hawaii and our home to help show his personality and the little person he has become!

We stayed at the military resort on Oahu for our first family vacation in March.

Ashton LOVES water!  He has always enjoyed baths and we are constantly redirecting him from playing in the pets' water dishes.

He is very interested in animals and calls everything either a "cat" or a "dog"  He was pointing at a sea turtle
They came into this area by our cabin each day to feed

Dolphins in front of our resort
 And a whale!
We saw a seal on our first day
 Sunbathing seal
Ashton's favorite animal is his pup, he even says, "Tunda"
He takes 1 nap a day, usually 1 1/2 hours however he hasn't found a solid sleep or nap routine.  Right when we think he is settled and predictable, he hits a milestone and changes things up!

Lucky for us, his daddy is always prepared and packed this tarp and trecking poles to set up shade for him wherever we went in Hawaii. c
One thing that IS consistent is that sleeping with mama or dada is the best!
He is very curious and is pointing at everything and wanting to talk about it! (Hanauma Bay)

He is a climber, which is kind of fun yet scary!
All boy- loves everything about being outdoors! Sand, dirt, snow, rocks, bugs, everything
He takes after his daddy with his silliness and enjoyment of making others laugh.  This is called "silly eyes"

Thankfully his teacher mama has a gazillion books because he loves loves loves to read!  His first favorite book was, "Wiggle, Waggle, Woof, Counting Sled Dogs in Alaska" and now his go-to is, "Where The Wild Things Are"

He has been hitting and surpassing milestones!  It has been fun to finally be able to "teach" my own child and watch his progression and skills develop.  Since I also provide care for other kiddos (Kinder Ready Kids) from our home, I plan out activities each week for them according to their interest/needs and across all learning domains. Below are a couple examples.....

Sensory and cause/effect with colored icecubes
Fine motor, cause/effect, and problem solving with our magnet sticks and paper towel tubes (older kiddo used it as an addition machine)
Fine motor and counting with clothespins in the jar
Fine motor, cause/effect, and some creative expression with toddler crayons

Ashton loves to be out adventuring and wines at the door, sometimes holding his shoes, if we haven't gone outside to play yet.  He can usually be found with a ball in his hands!

Our adventurer!  Although he loves to be down and running, he also enjoys being in the pack!  He has yet to fuss in the hiking pack.
He is 25lbs now, which is helpful for dada when training for hunts!
My boys! Just missing Tundra, he was around there somewhere!
He doesn't mind mama carrying him either!
The boys' new boat, a SeaArk.  An upgrade was needed to have shelter for Ash from the elements since weather changes so dramatically and so quickly in AK!  He approves!  Little does he know that in a few years, this seat will be his station when pulling his weight for dipnetting salmon!  He will be the bonker, gill ripper, and fin clipper!

The view of Lanakai beach from our hike, the Pillbox.  It has two military bunkers at the top.

 From inside a bunker
The trail.  Apparently it isn't uncommon for people to get rescued or worse after falling over the edge.  In fact there were two the week after we were there. ?!?!?!??!!?!?!
 Pillbox from where we parked
Zoomed in to see a bunker at the top
We were told about this hike from our old neighbor who now lives a few minutes from it!  We have hiked with Dave in Alaska and Hawaii now!  Not many people can say that!  Oh....and correction from earlier statement- Ashton DID fuss on this hike...... Alaska boy was too hot!
And finally--- Ashton is so incredibly handsome too!  Just like his dada!  Check out the 14month comparison of Ashton and Adam below.

Ashton's favorite meal is grilled teriyaki king salmon steaks with grilled broccoli, teriyaki noodles, and baked apples.
Ashton 14 months with 8 teeth and a molar coming in
Adam 14 months!
 Ready for church on Easter
These photos were taken by our friend's father when her parents were babysitting him.  He is a professional photographer but snapped these when they were babysitting him for a couple hours! So talented!  Was also the one that took his "gerber baby" pic if you remember it.

Thank you for checking out this post of the Ashton takeover!  Adam is currently bear hunting and will be posting about a good ol AK adventure soon!  More to come this summer!
