more winter fun and Iowa

This post has a lot of pictures but the text will be brief!  Keep in mind I don't post pictures of the kiddos on the blog because it is viewable by anyone. (well closeups anyway)

Fishing at Clunie Lake-- I was bored so Tundy and I went skiing.  Had a minor incident with wolves, will never ski there again!

Yet another toy- an Iowa skunk from Gpa and Gma Kucera

Not even 1/2 his toys!  I guess the new favorite is the skunk!

Believe it or not it's hard to keep my class geared up for recess, even in Alaska!  Parents will drop off their kids without a coat, let alone snowpants/boots/cloves/hats etc during negative temperatures!  My sis-in-law Jess proposed her work team's quarterly donation project be winter gear for my kiddos.  Adam and I rbought home LOTS of gloves/snowpants/hats/scarves/coats from her coworkers.  The card says "Thank you for helping to keep our hands and bodies warm"

Downtown tree in the park
Ice sculptures!
One in process of being carved
Family backcountry snowboard day

Tundra has lots of friends--- this is Scooter!

Jacket was fine, but goggles didn't last long!

Day 1 of our 3 day Avalance course.  11 hour days!  Adam on his first fine search with the beacon

On the Turnagain Arm

The rest of our group practicing rescue with beacons

Day 2 in the field was digging snow pits and checking the layers

Adam's first compression test

watching another group descend Tin Can

Day 3 in the field was planning routes and using the terrain to our advantage-- ESPECIALLY in this 35 degree, rainy RED LIGHT weather!

Short and sweet this time.  Might add more later, busy day today! \

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
