the start of bear hunting

Hey hey.  This will be short and sweet....the next one will be Adam's post, so you can look forward to details on the next one! ;) .............his post will be about his 4 day weekend with Jonathan in the bear stand-- got a brown bear!
Adam, a buddy, and I setting up the bear stand for 2015!  Jonathan is from Iowa, graduated from the University of Iowa as a dentist (as did his girlfriend-pharmacy!) and now they both work at the hospital that Adam works at!  Jonathan with the barrel this year!
Tired pup!  It's hard work being so cute, yet being on guard for bears!
 break time!  Best buds!

The boys using a tree stump for leverage to get the tree stand ladder apart- we moved it this year.
Not a fun job hiking the bulk of the stand through the woods!
 team work!

 clearing logs
After all that hard work we stopped for some icecream. If you know Adam- you know that he dislikes sweets.  Well the 12 hour day did something to his preferences because  Jonathan and I got 16 oz shakes............ADAM GOT A 32oz.  Yep- a $10 shake!  He of course got a tummy ache after drinking it all!
 Family hike up south fork!

On a run with Tundra...........this trail was a HORRIBLE idea!  Tundy loves loves loves to be dirty.  He started the run golden and ended the run brownish/black and really smelly!  River bath!
Eagle River is the shallowest we have seen it, Tundra could walk across.......not enough snow up in the mountains this year.  Will be interesting to see how the salmon runs are affected.
Tundra and Adam looking out into the culdesac.  There was a neighbor dog running around and Tundra was trying not to bark at her by looking away. If you know Tundy, you know he is very vocal, just recently he started looking away from whatever was making him bark!
From my sweet hubby on Teacher Appreciation week!
We were making letters out of sticks from the woods when one of my preschoolers yelled, "it's moving!"  With a closer look we saw a butterfly coming out of its chrysalis!  What an experience!

Another view of the river right now

The following videos are those that I forgot to post last time.
1)an ermine under our cabin at Hatcher's Pass- driving Tundy crazy!
2)Jeanette "sledding" down an icey road- check out the views!
3) The sights and sounds at the beginning of the ceremonial start of the Iditarod
4)the crystals of ice on the river
